About Us
Welcome to Meadowlark Learning
At Meadowlark Learning, we’re building a new kind of homeschool experience—one that’s simple for parents, playful and developmentally rich for children, and grounded in the science of how kids actually learn.
Our Story
Meadowlark Learning began with an open window and the song of a bird.
When I first decided to homeschool my children, I wanted our days to feel alive—full of curiosity, laughter, and connection. That morning, a meadowlark’s song drifted in through the open window of our little classroom. It was a sound of happiness and reassurance, and it reminded me of my grandmother, who always carried binoculars and a notebook. She taught me to slow down, to notice, and to love learning for its own sake.
That same spirit of wonder became the heart of Meadowlark. Over years of designing curriculum, I saw families longing for something grounded in research, simple, and fun.
So I began creating what I’d always wanted for my own family: lessons built on evidence, alive with story and movement, and full of play.
I later learned that the meadowlark is a symbol of finding happiness through lifelong learning—how serendipitous!
The meadowlark’s song that once gave me confidence now reminds me what learning can be—happy, natural, and full of life.
Welcome to Meadowlark Learning! I'm so glad you're here.
💛 Maggie
Our Approach
We’re guided by a few simple principles:
- Learning should feel natural. Young children learn best through hands-on exploration, stories, and play.
- Parents deserve ease. We’ve been in your shoes. Curriculum should fit real life, not demand hours of prep.
- Research matters. Every lesson is informed by early childhood education principles and cognitive development research.
- No agendas. Just sound academics that encourage critical thinking and meaningful learning experiences.
Looking Ahead
Meadowlark Learning is growing one thoughtful step at a time—piloted with real families, refined with real feedback, and built with the future of home education in mind.
Our long-term goal is to create a complete, cohesive curriculum through the elementary years, so families who begin with Preschool can confidently continue with Kindergarten, First Grade, and beyond.
We’re designing every stage to connect seamlessly, building strong academic foundations while keeping curiosity and wonder alive all the way through childhood.

Maggie Enger
Founder & CEO
Hi, Friend! I’m Maggie—writer, curriculum designer, homeschool mama, and founder of Meadowlark Learning. For more than a decade, I’ve worked in curriculum design and early education. As Chief Development Officer for one of the most widely used homeschool programs in the world, I led teams of educators, writers, and artists to create materials used by hundreds of thousands of families.
But like so many of you, I’ve dreamed of a fully secular, open-and-go, multi-sensory, and adaptable curriculum that’s academically sound without rigidity or overwhelm for the parent. That's what inspired Meadowlark Learning.
When I'm not creating curriculum, I love to be at home with my family, in nature, or off on a wild adventure!
I believe learning should feel alive—for children and for the parents guiding them. That is the heart behind everything we build at Meadowlark Learning.
