We’re loving the hands on learning style, and it definitely works! My 16 month old already can identify S,A,T, and P, and can count to 3 thanks to this program in just 2 weeks! We’re modifying the games to her ability and she’s not doing the “workbook” activities but we plan on doing this program again later on to really solidify everything. Love LOVE this program so far!!

Meadowlark Preschool is a fun curriculum for a preschooler who is just starting out learning their letter sounds, numbers, and shapes. My 4- year old enjoys the play pack games and cute pictures for each lesson.
I was researching different curriculums and they all seemed really complicated and daunting. I am so glad I found this one! It's so easy and simple to follow. Were only a few lessons in and it's a breeze! I love how natural and simple the parent prompts are. The lessons are a quick 15 to 30 minutes. I'm definitely going to be buying the kindergarten curriculum next year.

We have just started the preschool curriculum with my daughter, who struggles with concepts. She is doing very well, only one week in! She loves incorporating play with learning, and it seems to help her absorb the information as well. This is my first year homeschooling my 4 year old. I’ve been an educator for 15 years in private schools and I am orton gillingham certified. I absolutely could be doing this without meadowlark, but meadowlark keeps me organized and I don’t have to plan as much. Since these are 3 lessons a week, I supplement the other two days with activities for that letter and number. I love how appropriate this is for pre k. After having taught pre k, k, 1st, 2nd, and 4th grade, we tend to move way faster than we need to. My son is officially understanding letters because they are broken down by week and slowly. Orton–Gillingham (often referred to as OG) is a research-based approach that teaches reading through sight, sound, and movement. It’s structured, multi-sensory, and proven to help children connect sounds and letters in meaningful ways. Originally designed for dyslexia, it’s now considered one of the most effective ways to teach all children to read.

Many programs teach letters in alphabetical (ABC) order, but research shows that’s not the most effective way for children to learn to read.
Meadowlark follows the SATPIN sequence, a research-backed order grounded in Orton–Gillingham and Science of Reading principles. The SATPIN sequence introduces letters in an order that lets children start blending and building real words early (like in, sat, pin, tap), rather than waiting until the end of the alphabet. This connects the letter and sounds children are learning with real-world application of their knowledge.
It also spaces apart letters that are often confused, such as b/d and m/n, helping children focus on distinct sounds and shapes while reducing common reversals.
By beginning with the most frequent and easily distinguished sounds, the SATPIN approach helps children connect sounds to letters naturally, build confidence faster, and experience success long before they’ve “finished the alphabet.” Meadowlark focuses on learning through sound and pattern, not memorization—helping your child feel like a reader from the very beginning.
While Meadowlark Preschool is not a therapeutic program, it draws from Orton-Gillingham principles and Science of Reading research—both evidence-based approaches that support developing readers.
